So, what does it mean by "transformed"? Well, this time round, you won't just be driving a car. You will get plane and boat parts, also. You can watch your kart transform into that, and back. It's pretty wicked.
The game features tracks inspired on worlds from old games, some you may have even forgotten, like Burning Rangers or Skies of Arcadia.
Look familiar? |
You'll see so many beloved characters. The obvious, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy, but there's more, Gillian (Golden Axe), B.D. Joe (Crazy Taxi), Amigo (Samba De Amigo) and loads more.
AMIGO. |
The PC version of the game also has extra characters not offered on other platforms. A Team Fortress 2 kart, Willemus (Total War 2), Football Manager, Shogun (Total War Shogun) and General Winter (Company of Heroes).
One of the PC exclusive characters. |
Let's talk modes.
‣Standard Racing. Think Mario Kart, with power up pick ups on the track that you can use to harm other players. 3 Laps.
‣Battle Race. Which is a standard race with conditions. You get 3 lives only. If you run out of lives, you will become a ghost and get to attack other racers. You can also drive super, super fast. Think the Pagani Zonda Karting equivalent.
‣Battle Arena. You are given 3 lives in a small arena. Pew pew.
‣Capture the Chao. There is a time limit and you have to see how many times you can capture the chao. This mode was very hard for me. I would be lucky to capture it once per match.
"Ages" on the Podium. |
In single player mode, you will want to start up on World Tour. Each race has 4 difficulties, and you will earn a star for completing each level of difficulty. So if you want 4 stars for each track, you'll have to bring your A Game, uh, I mean S Game. Completing events in World Tour will help you unlock new characters and mods for your kart.
More on mods: Each kart has a mod, meaning the stats will be different depending on the mod you pick. You can choose a speed mod, a boost mod, a grip mod, etc.
Top Bananas. |
The best part of this game is impersonating the characters. You should hear my "PUDDING" impersonation. My fake British accent is also pretty good to mock Football Manager. I knew I had an addiction to this game when I actually started to like that guy.
Get it, you won't regret it.
Babe, I would never forget Skies of Arcadia.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you forget to mention they got rid of the awesome announcer! Hopefully they will patch it back in though, per my request.
Well SOME people would! We're not the only ones who read this blog! Oh... wait.
ReplyDeleteExcellent article.
ReplyDeleteThanks mate. I find it hard to write about a lot of games. xD
