Coney Condiments #34: Stacking

Everytime I think there is no new ideas out there, Double Fine come out with something new that blows me away. Someone once said to me "I can't imagine anyone not liking this game". And for once, someone on the internet was right about something. Hey, it had to happen eventually- right?

One of my favourite things to do at my Nanna and Pa's house growing up was playing with some Matryoshka dolls they kept up high in a small cabinet in their dining room. I've liked them ever since, and even bought some for myself when I was 19.

Totally just bragging at this point.

You could imagine my delight when I realize what this game is, exactly. You are controlling Charlie Blackmore, the smallest doll of all. Due to Charlie's size, he is held back in the real world.

Heeeello "Stranger Danger".

Charlie must stack inside other dolls to be able to solve puzzles in the world. Charlie can only stack up one size at a time, so you cannot immediately jump into a large doll.

Best caviar ever, eh?
Each level has objectives, and there is more than one way to solve them. Some dolls seem to "repeat" quite often throughout the levels. However, there is also some unique dolls, where there will be only one of its type. Each location also has a set of dolls to collect, you must find all the dolls of that family and stack them, in order to unlock them at your hideout.

My dreams of becoming an upper class snooty bitch are finally coming true.

Charlie's adventures will lead you through train station, a ship and a zeppelin. And, of course, it's up to Charlie to save the world. So, what are you waiting for? GO. SAVE.

Run, Charlie, run.

Stacking is extremely fun. I'm giving it the Bekness stamp of approval.

    1. It's pretty great so far. Sharp writing and voice acting, and really smooth animation paired with a lovely art style.
