REVIEW - Bejeweled Blitz

Bejeweled Blitz is a game where you match jewels into sets of at least 3. This game is played against the clock. You get 1 minute to score as many points as possible.

The best way to get points is to just keep making matches quickly. If you create clusters of more than 3 gems, these are special gems which net you more points. A Flame Gem is crafted when you match 4 in a row. 5 in a row grants you a Hyper Cube. When you manage to join 3 in a row with another 3 in a row, you create a Star Gem.

Some star gems and a purple flame gem.

Swap the blue gem farthest to the right, to where the "white" (it's actually Silver, PopCap) gem is to create a Star Gem.

Before each match begins, you will have the option to harvest a Rare Gem. Though these don't seem to actually be rare, because you will be given the option literally every time you play. The option to store these gems for harvest at any time has been added in, also. Rare gems will cost you coins (more on that, later).

Some stored gems to cash in at any time pre-game.

Rare gems essentially just destroy multiple gems at once, by exploding and blowing them up. Depending on which gem you use and how many points you already have in the game, the results will be different each time.

Boosts are also available before each match commences. You can add extra time to the game, get a special button to destroy any special gems, a scrambling button, starting the game with a special gem or with a bonus multiplier. You can pick up to 3 of these and they will all cost you coins.

You have an experience bar and whatever you score during the game will be added to that bar. Each time you level up, it will take more experience to get to the next level. You earn coins at the end of the game, also.

There are other ways to earn coins, such as the Daily Spin, which is basically Bejeweled Slots. You can match them in game with yellow gems to earn more. And you can earn them as a reward for completing certain tasks, known as Keystone Rewards.

After you have leveled up enough you will have unlocked Easy, Medium and Hard keystone rewards. These are just bonus objectives that you can complete to earn coins, (as previously stated), extra experience and free Rare Gems. To complete these you will need to fulfill tasks such as "get 8 flame gems in one game" or "beat your weekly high score". Certain rewards can expire, but there is a generous time frame of a fortnight until this occurs.

Easy, Medium and Hard Keystone Reward objectives.

Bejeweled Blitz comes with a party mode, where you play for 1 minute, and then a friend plays for 1 minute. Your overall score will be taken into consideration when you finish and you will be rewarded with coins.

Bejeweled Blitz is EXTREMELY addictive. You've been warned.
